This checklist helps school leaders evaluate their own understanding of AI, their staff's preparedness, legal compliance (such as the EU AI Act), systems capacity, budget, and how well AI thinking aligns with the school's vision. For each question, score yourself from 1 (no experience at all) to 5 (expert / highly confident).
This is a single-page, 13-question self-scoring tool rather than a long-form guide. Add up your 13 scores for a preliminary "AI Readiness" band: 13–20 not at all ready, 21–34 a little ready, 35–49 mostly ready, 50–65 very ready. It's designed as a starting point for reflection, not a formal audit.
